Bridges
A
dental
bridge, otherwise known as a fixed partial
denture, is a
prosthesis
used to replace missing
teeth
and is not removable . A prosthesis
that is removable by the patient is called a
removable partial denture.
A dental bridge allows you to fill
the gap created by missing teeth by linking natural
teeth together using crowns. Each natural
tooth acts as an anchor crown and has links known as pontic crowns that fill the gap created by missing
teeth. The bridge will restore your smile and
normal functions of your mouth. Bridges are
made with porcelain which will ensure a natural
look.
The
procedure for building your new bridge is very
simple. On your first visit, we will shape the
natural teeth to accommodate the bridge. Then
we will take an impression to send to our lab so
that they can produce your new bridge. While
the lab is creating the bridge, you will wear a
temporary bridge. On your second visit, we
will remove your temporary and place your permanent
bridge.
